The Brother MFC-L2710DW looks a bit like it’s carved out of coal, but otherwise, it should fit the bill for a home or small office. Place a mono laser rated 30 ppm on its base with a 50-page ADF scanner at the top. The printer is an entry-level all-in-one (print, copy, scan, and fax) printer designed for small and/or home offices or teams with moderate printing needs, or individual monochrome laser AIO. For entry-level AIO, it has a relatively powerful feature set and is fast. On the other hand, it’s a bit expensive to run, and there are some shortcomings in print quality, especially graphics and photos. Even so, it’s a small, space-saving device with a compact structure and good overall printing, making it a good choice for small-volume monochrome printing and copying environments. The Brother MFC-L2710DW measures 12.5 x 15.7 x 12.5 inches (HWD) and weighs only 26 pounds, approximately the average size and weight of an entry-level AIO. The printer’s paper handling includes a 250-page feeder and a one-time printing slot for printing envelopes, labels, and other non-standard-sized media, with a maximum aspect ratio of 15,000 pages per month, recommended at 2,000 pages. The printer is not only equipped with a convenient ADF, but the tray itself is large enough to hold up to 50 originals for scanning and archiving or copying documents, graphics, and photos. You can handle this task and most other types of roaming tasks, such as scanning from the cloud and printing from the cloud or setting security options, from the old-fashioned, button-intensive control panel of the Brother MFC-L2710DW, which consists of two lines of monochrome. LCD, a button for setting up and starting a specific task, and a 10-key numeric keypad for dialing fax numbers, etc. Although the printer does not support all connection types, it does support most connection types, including the following basics: Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and connecting to a single PC via USB. Mobile connection types include Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, Wi-Fi Direct, and Brother’s iPrint and Scan. The last one is iPrint and Scan, which allows you to print from e-mail and connect to specific cloud sites. In addition to printer and scanner drivers, the Brother MFC-L2710DW bundle includes Nuance PaperPort 14SE, a simplified version of the popular PaperPort document management and archiving program. In addition to document management capabilities, PaperPort features a powerful Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and PDF creation and editing utility that not only allows you to save scanned files and PDFs, but also some Microsoft Office and other useful file formats.
