Epson EcoTank ET-M3170 Manual, User’s Guide, and Installation

The Epson EcoTank ET-M3170 is small compared to this type and therefore takes up the least desk, counter, or shelf space including a 35-page single-over automatic document feeder (ADF) for scanning and copying two-sided multi-page documents, fax capabilities, and a larger touchscreen control panel. As for the printer’s control panel, it consists of only a 4-inch color touch screen and a Home and Power button, as shown in the following image. Here you can configure, monitor, and perform PC-free tasks, such as scanning to and from the cloud, making copies, and all other automated features. Paper handling is not one of the strengths of the printer, but its 251-page capacity (divided into 250-page main trays and a feed slot on the back) is comparable to most other entry-level AIO. Epson’s assessment of the printer is 20 pages per minute (ppm), which is about 10 ppm slower than most entry-level monochrome laser AIO. The PrecisionCore printhead chip consists of a tighter condensation and smaller ink nozzle than most other printheads. This translates into more detail, in which case it translates into a more visible shade of gray. This is not to say that the Epson EcoTank ET-M3170 does not produce beautiful text. Overall, the text quality is comparable to that produced by most laser printers. As Epson does with all machines except its high-end, ultra-high-capacity machines, the printer supports smart home voice activation through Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri, and IFTT scripts. With the right devices and/or services and your smartphone, you can say “Alexa, please print today’s schedule with an Epson printer” or “Hey, Google, please print a help page with an Epson printer” without you having to stand up. Finally, the Epson EcoTank ET-M3170 printer has a maximum monthly work cycle of 2,000 pages and a recommended monthly print volume of 1,500 pages, which is not a lot compared to laser printers but is likely to be sufficient for an entry-level printing and copying environment. Standard connections include Ethernet up to 1000 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b /g/n/s, and USB 2.0 connections to a single PC and Wi-Fi Direct. Other mobile connectivity options include Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, and Epson Connect. The last is a series of mobile utilities, including Epson Email Print, Epson iPrint App (Android and iOS), and Epson Remote Print.
