Bills, business records, the Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5800 allow you to print without having to worry about the remaining ink level. Using Epson’s math, there is enough ink per month to print about 315 monochrome or 250-color pages, which is the cost of the printer and is more expensive than buying the same number of cartridges. Epson set the maximum monthly work cycle for the printer at 5,000 pages and set its recommended monthly print volume at 800 pages. However, you do not have a USB port available for printing and scanning from the USB thumb drive. This printer, like almost every other Epson consumer inkjet printer produced in the past few years, supports what Epson calls hands-free, voice-activated printing through smart home products from Amazon Alexa and Google Home, as well as any other voice technology that uses IFTT scripts. Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5800 is out of the box and can only perform specific tasks, such as printing to-do lists or schedules for the day. Using a relatively simple IFTT scripting language (available from multiple online sources, including IFTT.com), you can teach the printer new voice activation techniques and extend support for other voice-activated technologies, such as Siri on the iPhone and its devices. Standard connections on the Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5800 include 100Mbps Ethernet, Wi-Fi 802.11 b /g/n, and USB 2.0 connections to a single PC. You also get a re-equal protocol, Wi-Fi Direct, to connect the printer to your smartphone without any device becoming part of the network. In addition to Wi-Fi Direct, other mobile features include Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, Fire OS Support, and Mopria Print Services, as well as mobile utilities included in the Epson Connect app and service set. These tools include Epson Email Printing, Epson Remote Printing, Epson Scan to Cloud, and Epson iPrint App.
